In my early twenties I can honestly tell you that I totally took my health for granted and I know I’m not the only one. Unfortunately, it seems that when we’re young we don’t really pay too much attention to how healthy we are. We’re in college, hanging out with our friends, in the dating scene, and the last thing on our minds is our health. But it certainly IS important because the habits we start forming in our twenties will usually stay with us throughout our adult life. So how do you want to live it? If you’re like me and committed to being at the top of your game, here are five tips for living a healthy lifestyle in your twenties.

Take Vitamins

When I was younger, my momma used to make me take my vitamins every day. But now as an adult, I have to remember to take them all on my own. It’s hard though, because I have the worst memory and I’m terrible at taking pills and medications. But luckily, I found Sundown Naturals® Adult Gummies Multivitamins at Walmart the other day, and now I’m hooked! They’re gluten free, dairy free, free of artificial flavors◊, and they kind of taste delicious! They’re gummies!! And they’re good for you! Doesn’t get any better than that! These gummies provide support for bone, immune and heart health, and they contribute to energy metabolism. AKA, it can’t hurt to add them to your daily routine! And if you don’t know exactly which vitamins are best for you, no worries! You can take this short quiz to find out!

Drink lots of water

This one’s pretty easy, guys. We just have to be a little more intentional about it. Over the course of the day, it’s easy to get caught up in all the things we have to do and to completely forget about staying hydrated. But it’s SO IMPORTANT! Our bodies need lots of water in order to function properly, so have a water bottle with you at all times and drink lots of water. If that means buying a cute water thermos, do it! Need some kind of printable tracker to track your water intake? That’s fine too! Just stay hydrated and you’ll notice what a difference it makes in how you feel throughout the day.

Find your form of fitness

When I met my husband 4+ years ago, I met him at CrossFit. Yep, that’s our story! For a few years, we worked out together after work at least three times a week and that was great for a while. But recently, I’ve just been too busy for CrossFit. I can’t devote a full hour of my time after work to getting one of those hardcore workouts in. So instead, I’ve purchased some basic home-gym essentials and I fit in my workouts whenever I have even just 15 short minutes. Sometimes that means doing crunches while watching the Bachelorette, but hey! It’s better than nothing! Everyone’s different, so find what works for you. Maybe you like yoga…maybe you’re a fan of kickboxing…maybe Pokemon Go is your thing. Give everything a shot until you find your form of fitness. Just make sure you’re doing SOMETHING.

Visit your doctors

Even if you think you’re perfectly healthy, you still ought to visit your doctors at least on an annual basis. Sure, sometimes it’s a pain to make an appointment and spend your afternoon in a waiting room, but you have to do it. There’s no better medicine than preventative medicine, so you want to make you’re able to catch any potential problems before it’s too late. So visit your primary care doctor, any specialists you might need to go to, and if you’re having trouble with your vision, make an eye appointment! Check your eyes, and check your teeth too! As much as I HATE the dentist, it’s something we gotta do!

Give yourself plenty of me-time

One of best ways to stay healthy in your twenties is to give yourself plenty of me-time. Because health isn’t just about physical fitness and how your BODY feels, it’s also very much about your mind. And in your twenties, it’s so easy to become overwhelmed and totally burned out while you’re adulting. And who could blame you? This adulting stuff is hard! So make sure you’re making time for yourself. Time to just relax, unplug, and reflect on your day. You’ll find that this makes you feel so much better, and your health and well-being will thank you for it.

Drinking water is SO hard for me, just because I cant stand the taste. It helps if I mix in fruit or those powdered lemonades, but I definitely see a difference in my stomach and skin when I drink my water for the day.
