Super excited to share with you that tonight at 8pm EST, I’ll be guest hosting Chelsea Krost’s #MillennialTalk on Twitter! Be sure to tune in and participate in the chat! They’re always super fun and you meet lots of people!
We’re gunna be talking about my new book, Corporate Survival Guide For Your Twenties, and sharing lots of thoughts and ideas about making the best out of those first few years at work!
I’ve been saying the same thing for the past four years! Yes, I’ve been blogging for four freaking years and it’s all led up to this…
Corporate life in your twenties is HARD.
It’s not easy.
College was easy.
School was easy.
Think that you’re gunna get a job and all your worries are over?
Think again my friend!
This is when life gets tough.
This is when you have to learn to deal with all sorts of people.
People who are older than you.
People who are younger than you.
People who are miserable for no apparent reason.
This is when you have to bust your ass of to make sure your boss likes you.
This is when you have to prove yourself so that people will take you seriously at work.
God, the first few years in Corporate America can feel like you’re drowning in the ocean, no land in sight. But you want to know why??
Because they don’t teach this stuff in college!
You know what they DO teach you?
They teach you how to GET a job!
They teach you how to put together a pretty resume and network like a bad-ass.
They teach you about cover letters.
Because the goal is always to LAND a job.
But what then, guys?!
What happens once you land the job of your dreams?
Does it really matter if you get the job of your dreams if you suck at it and get fired three weeks in?
Not so much!
So the purpose of Corporate Survival Guide For Your Twenties is to make sure that you’re an absolute mother f-ing rockstar at whatever job you land!
Because when I first entered the corporate world, I had no clue what I was doing.
I knew I wanted to make money and dress up in a pretty suit and that was it.
I thought everyone would be nice to me, because, hey, I’m a nice lady!
Things I never thought I’d have to deal with.
So back then, I promise you, I wish that someone had smacked me in the face with some kind of career survival guide and told me, “Here! Read this!”
That would have been helpful.
But most of the time, when you get a new job, you’re thrown right off the boat and expected to swim.
Well peeps, I’m gunna make sure that you do!
I’m gunna make sure you’re the best damn swimmer because more than anything, I want you to succeed!
I want young professionals everywhere to prove all the haters wrong!
All those people who say us millennials are entitled and bratty and don’t really know how to do anything….
I want us to prove them so freaking wrong.
Because I know that young people bring so much to the corporate world.
We bring so much to the table.
And really, we’re going to make a huge difference in the world.
So let’s start off on the right foot!
I didn’t end up in HR several times for nothing!
I’ve taken some of my experiences from the past 6 years of my life and put together a fun, down-to-earth corporate survival guide and I’m really hoping that you’ll love it.
I get asked all the time…”I’m not in my twenties…can I still read this?”
HELL TO THE YES, DUDE!
It’s funny how quickly we forget some of the basic principles of being a decent human being in the corporate world, so I think everyone could use a refresher.
Not only that, but the book addresses topics that apply to anyone who’s working a 9-5, things like staying sane in the workplace, growing as a professional, and changing jobs.
And if you’re all like, “Oh, I already know everything about the corporate world. I don’t need to read this,” that’s totally fine.
Props to you for being SUPER AWESOME AT WORK.
But how about your daughter? How about your nephew? You must know SOMEONE who could use some friendly advice.
College graduations are in the next couple of months! My book’s due out June 5th! Pre-order today and make this a graduation gift that they’ll really appreciate.
My book, and money. Make sure to give them money.
And that’s it for today, guys!
I cannot thank you enough for all the support I’ve received over the past four years and especially now during this new adventure for me as an author.
You guys are the absolute best, and I would NEVER have had this opportunity without you.
So remember, Chelsea Krost’s #MillennialTalk on Twitter! May 10th (today) at 8pm EST.
