My Day Job As A Social Media Manager

For those of you new around here, my blog isn’t my full-time business – I’m actually a social media manager and copywriter at a kick-ass advertising agency.

So if you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like to be a social media manager, here’s what that looks like and why I love it so much. Yea, I’m kind of obsessed.

So yea, if you’re a blogger or anyone who’s interested in the online space, I can vouch from experience that this is kind of an awesome career path.

You get to be creative and be around other creative people, and you don’t get yelled at for being online at work!

I get to play ping-pong and drink beer while I’m on the clock which is a big plus too. Yay for advertising!

But really, companies need social media managers that are in tune with all the latest social media trends and people who know the kind of content that’s successful on these different social media platforms.

And if you’re an influencer or a blogger, that’s exactly what you do every single freaking day.

So if being a social media manager sounds like something you’d be interested in pursuing, start looking into it! Start looking for opportunities on job boards like this one and start updating your resume!

I’m also available for one-on-one career coaching,  so if you’re looking to make the transition, I’d be more than happy to help you!

Anyone else out there a social media manager? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Let me know in the comments!

I’m a social media manager and I love it! I actually do a mix of social and PR, but I primarily have more social responsibilities. I got started working at an ad agency (like you do) and it was awesome. I love the chill atmosphere of agency life. I now work on the corporate/brand side and it was a perfect move for me.
I’m a huge fan of incorporating millennial slang and pop culture references into our brand’s content. It performs really well as it appeals to our target audience.
It’s great to have a blog because I already have all of the skills needed to write engaging content/copy + manage my own social media channels. Cheers from one social manager to another!

I honestly had no idea you wrote a book! That is amazing you can juggle working full-time and running a really successful, valuable blog. It’s evident you put so much time into your blog, which I love.
I also love your tips about managing social media! I think some people think it’s just SO easy, like post something on Facebook. But there’s so much thought and strategy that goes into it if you’re doing it right.
