Hi friends! It’s been a little while since I posted about my baby girl, so here’s a quick little update. This week we’re finally sleep training after co sleeping with her for 6 months!
Yeah, I know, I know. Her sleeping in my bed has NOT been the ideal situation, but as a first time mom, I finally got pretty exhausted of waking up every half hour.
Even in our bed though, she’s still been waking up every hour or two, so we finally made the decision (after consulting with her pediatrician) to start sleep training her.
We’re going to be following the Ferber method – letting her cry it out a little bit so that she learns to self-soothe.
I’ll be documenting the whole process on my YouTube channel, so if you’re interested in seeing how it goes, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any of my updates. Here’s the first video in my sleep training series explaining exactly why we’re finally doing this and how I feel about it.
- Riley’s six months old
- I’m still nursing her
- She wants to comfort nurse all through the night
- She doesn’t take a pacifier
- She doesn’t really take a bottle (but we’ve been working on this lately)
- Her naps are 30 mins long on the dot 3 times a day
- She sleeps between my husband and I and wakes up every hour or two (sometimes more often)
AKA, we’re so darn tired! So I’m excited to see whether or not this whole sleep training thing is successful.
I was super against sleep training for the longest time, but we’re finally doing it and I hope it works out well.
Is sleep training possible after co sleeping and bed sharing? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, feel free to leave me all your suggestions and recommendations below in the comments because this zombie of a mom needs all the help she can get!
I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
