With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I thought I’d be fun to share my first look wedding photos with you guys.
When Joe and I were planning our wedding over a year ago, we had to decide whether or not we wanted to have a first look session.
Now, for those of you who don’t know what that means, first look photos are photos you take on your wedding day BEFORE the actual wedding.
Traditionally, the groom doesn’t see the bride until she walks down the aisle. But with first look photos, the bride and groom meet before the ceremony to capture the first moment they see each other.
When I decided that I wanted to take first look photos, sure, I had moments of doubt. Do I want to keep things traditional? Is it really worth the argument with my mom? What if it turns out to be a total disaster? I had all those thoughts.
But let me tell you guys something, it was 100% worth it.
In the craziness of your wedding day, you’re surrounded by people every minute…every hour. So these 20 minutes that I spent with Joe before we said ‘I DO’ were some of my favorite moments of that day.
Glad Lara Rios captured them on camera.
We took our photos at the marina where we spent our first date! I know, it’s so cute that it’s gross.
I was so excited for this moment, and then my photographers were like, “Okay, you’re going to step out onto this dock.” All I had were visions of me falling into the water.
Thankfully, I didn’t, because that would have been bad. And the look on Joe’s face was totally worth it. The pictures came out pretty awesome too.
Then I was like, “Okay, can I get off this dock, please, because I’m having heart palpitations and I can’t breathe.” So we started walking around the marina, and kept taking photos. Joe was a good sport about it.
At about this point here, I realized that my hair had died. That was the only failure of the day. We had curled my hair in the morning, but just a few minutes out in the open air and it was dead. RIP, beautiful curls.
I wasn’t going to let that ruin my day, though. Way too much to be happy about.
Oh, and aren’t Joe’s cufflinks the bomb? Millennium Falcon, whaaaat?! Reason #45677 why I’m the best wife ever.
And then we headed back to the hotel, since it was time for me to walk down the aisle.
Gahhhh so cute, right?! What do you think? Are you guys fan of first look photos? Have any of you done them already? What was that experience like for you? Let me know in the comments!
