5 Desk Essentials Every Girl Boss Needs

Today’s post is sponsored by my friends at AWAKE Chocolate. As always, all opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that support Gen Y Girl!

As a social media manager and blogger, I spend a lot of time at my desk. And although my room is usually a hot mess, my desk is definitely an area that needs to be clean in order to function. Whether I’m answering e-mails or working on blog posts, over time I’ve found that there are certain desk essentials I can’t work without. So here are a few of them:

1. Planner

2018 calendar

In one of my recent videos, I talked to you guys about my absolute obsession with my Day Designer. I keep my Day Designer at work, and that’s the planner I use for my everyday work tasks. But when I come home, I have a separate planner that I use for my blogging assignments and it’s also what I use to keep my life in order with all the baby stuff I need to finalize before our little one gets here in December. At the end of the day, if I don’t write stuff down, it doesn’t get done, so I write every single little thing I have to do in there and I cross each one off as it’s completed. Anyone else as OCD about to-do lists as I am? Please tell me I’m not alone.

2. Colorful Pens + Accessories

colorful pens

Maybe it’s just my way of rebelling against my Catholic education, but after years of only being able to use black and blue pens, I now like to write in color. IDK, you’d think that as an adult colorful pens and stuff wouldn’t excite you anymore, but that’s a huge lie and yes, writing in pink makes me happier than you could ever know.

3. Pretty Business Cards

I keep a stash of business cards on my desk along with my Kate Spade business card holder because it reminds me to keep it stocked at all times. As a creative entrepreneur, it’s important to have business cards that you can hand out at any given moment, because you never know who you’ll meet throughout your day. Plus, they make me feel super legit. Try it, you’ll see what I mean.

4. Yummy Desk Snacks

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this – I CANNOT work when I’m hungry because then I get HANGRY and that does nobody any good. That’s why I was so ridiculously happy when I was introduced to AWAKE.

AWAKE is the pioneer of delicious caffeinated chocolate and granola bars that help people keep up with the fast pace of everyday life.

Yes, this is real life, friends – chocolate bars with caffeine!

They’re delicious, the packaging is so pretty, and they’re exactly what I need when I’m working on blog posts at night.

I mean, what’s not to love about them? Dark chocolate…milk chocolate….caramel….

Plus, they’ve got as much caffeinated goodness as a whole cup of coffee!

And for those days when you just need a tiny pick-me up, these AWAKE bites are perfect – each one equal to only half a cup. Keep these at your desk to help you power through the 2 p.m. slump and you’ll be back to work in no time!

As you can see, I’ve got plenty stashed away in my desk. I’m legit trying to hide them from Joe because he’s eaten like seventeen thousand of them already!

5. Thank You Cards

Now maybe I’m a little old fashioned, but I absolutely love sending thank you cards. Sure, you can send a thank you email most of the time, but I love me a hand-written thank you card. I mean, with so much negativity in the world all the time, how nice is it when you get a positive message from anyone these days?

And when that message is accompanied by something sweet like these AWAKE bars, yea, that’ll make someone’s day for sure!

This is such a great list! I recently switched from a planner to a bullet journal and I’m obsessed.
I don’t like to be dramatic but it’s changed my life.
Love the idea of keep thing Thank You Cards at your desk as well.
I desperately need to make new business cards. My adorable Kate Spade cardholder is just sitting empty.

I don’t have a desk – apart from work – but I do agree that I have to have my planner on hand. I like that you write actual thank you notes. I try and do that when I can too. Those Awake bites sound perfect for me…yum.

I always have a planner handy. I love the google apps so I can have everything I need in my phone. Colorful pens are a must! I’m a teacher and I dispise just using blue and black. I’m always busting out my fun colored Flair Pens. I’m obsessed!

Those chocolate bars look so good!
At work, my desk essentials are my daily planner, my cute floral stapler, and a cute holder to put all my pens in.
At home, it is also a different planner and my Ipad. 🙂

I love a good planner and you definitely need a few snacks to keep you going throughout the day (we all need a treat or two! haha), I think I need to redo my desk though, getting some desk envy from you photos!
