This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.
As new parents, now that we’re finally over the whole “scared to leave the house” phase, I’m so excited to make memories with Riley this summer! You know, a lot of people think having a baby prevents you from doing a lot of stuff, but I beg to differ!
There’s so much to do, so much to explore, and given that we live in Miami where it’s practically summer year round, we’ll probably get started right away!
So for those of you looking to have some fun in the sun with your little ones, here are ten fun summer activities to do with your baby!
Take A Day Trip
Traveling with a baby can be a little crazy, so if you’re not quite ready for a full-on adventure, consider taking a day trip! Last weekend we hopped in the car and drove down to the Florida Keys for the day and our little one had a blast.
Just make sure you have all the essentials. Diapers and wipes, obviously, but also AVEENO® Baby CONTINUOUS PROTECTION Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 50! I always have a tube of this handy wherever I go, so throw it in your diaper bag and don’t leave home without it!
I mean, the last thing you want is to be stressing about sunburns or dry skin, am I right?! That’s why I love AVEENO® Baby CONTINUOUS PROTECTION Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 so much. This sunscreen is all natural with 100% mineral sun blockers and offers 100% Zinc-Oxide UVA/UVB mineral protection. Just what your babies need when they’re out in the sun.
Have A Breakfast Picnic
The afternoons may be a little too hot for a picnic – at least here in Miami they are – but there’s nothing nicer than being outside in the morning. So step outside, throw a blanket on the grass, and let your little ones hang outside in the morning while you eat your breakfast and sip on some much-need coffee. Believe me, that fresh air does wonders.
Here’s another fun activity that’s perfect for the summertime…bubbles! Who doesn’t like blowing bubbles? On top of the fact that it’s a fun game for little ones, it’s also budget friendly because you can legit get bubbles just about anywhere, even the dollar store! So stock up on a few bottles, take a blanket outside, and watch as your babies try to figure out what the heck those little rounds things are that are floating around everywhere!
Have A Pool/Beach Day
I vividly remember spending the summers at my grandparents’ house. We’d spend all day outside by the pool and it was glorious! From my experience, little babies seem to love the water, so grab a towel, a hat, and some sunscreen and spend the day splashing around!
Riley has super sensitive skin though, so I love that this sunscreen received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. The last thing I need is to protect her from the sun and then end up with a skin rash.
And for those of you with super squirmy babies, you’ll also be happy to know that this formula is tear-free, easy to apply, and goes on without stinging. It’s gentle enough to use everyday on your baby’s sensitive skin, and its ACTIVE NATURALS® Oat formula soothes and nourishes the skin rather than drying it out.
Throw this in your beach bag and you’re ready for a pool day! If you need me at all this summer, chances are, this is where I’ll be!
Explore a Farmer’s Market
I don’t know about where you guys live, but by our place we have the cutest little fruit stand where you can get fresh produce, homemade jams, and the best milkshakes I’ve ever had! So if your little ones are driving you crazy being cooped up inside all day, go explore your nearest farmers market because I think it’s something they’ll enjoy too. When I’m out and about like this, I like to wear Riley in her baby carrier and she has the best time looking around, people watching, and I take that opportunity to teach her a whole bunch of new words while I pick out some fruits and veggies to take home.
Visit The Library
When I was younger, my mom would take my sister and I to the library every summer and I remember coming home with a stack of library books each time! To this day, I absolutely love reading, and that’s definitely something I’ll be teaching my baby girl to do. So if you’re looking for a fun AND educational activity to do this summer, take your little ones to the library! Spend the afternoon reading there (most libraries have a kid section with puzzles and toys to play with) or help them pick out some books to bring back home. Either way, it’s something they’ll remember years later.
Go For A Walk
If your little one can’t sit still for more than 2.5 seconds like mine, then maybe consider going for a walk! Riley loves going for walks in her stroller and I – despite the fact that I hate working out – like knowing that I’m doing my body good by getting up and getting moving. But remember, even if you’re not out by the pool, if you’re outside at all, it’s a good idea to protect your baby from the sun. I keep a tube of my Aveeno sunscreen in the stroller so I never forget it.
Go To The Zoo
Regardless of whether or not Riley likes it, we’re going to the zoo this summer because this momma right here LOVES the zoo! I think it’s so much fun to see all the animals hanging out, and I don’t know, it’s just something I’ve always been a fan of. The zoo we go to also has a super cute water play area for the kids, and I know Riley will have a blast with that! So find your nearest zoo and spend the day exploring and learning about the animals. I don’t think I’ve ever met a kid yet who doesn’t enjoy that.
Visit The Aquarium
I absolutely love aquariums and while we haven’t taken our baby girl to one just yet, we definitely will this summer! I know she’ll love watching the fish swim and introducing her to other animals too! Plus, aquariums are usually colorful and full of fun learning activities for the kiddos, so be sure to add this to your summer bucket list.
Eat At An Outdoor Restaurant
“Inside or outside?” We get asked that a lot when we dine out at restaurants. And usually, my initial response is “inside!” because ya know… A/C and all. But when the weather isn’t too hot and it isn’t too cold, we like to take advantage of outdoor seating and dine al fresco!
Riley loves it because she gets to look around at all the things and experience a whole bunch of new sights. This little one’s for sure going to be a handful because she’s so curious about everything.
So that’s it! 10 super fun things to do with your baby this summer! Regardless of what your plans are, just remember to protect your little one from the sun!
Right now, you can pick up an AVEENO® Baby CONTINUOUS PROTECTION Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 twin pack at your nearest Walmart! Use the Ibotta offer to save $5 and you’ll have double the protection, double the moisture, and double the fun this summer!
PS- Just look at this cutie! I could totally eat her up!
