My New Year’s Resolution As A Blogger

I’m typically not into the whole “making New Year’s Resolutions” thing.

But this year, I felt a little differently about it.

Today, as I write this, I’m almost one month postpartum and yea, there are a few resolutions I could make.

My resolution could be to lose these last 10ish pounds of baby weight that I put on.

It could also be to start eating healthier and clean my house a lot more often – God knows I can’t live in this hot mess forever.

But neither one of those things are really what I’ll be focusing on this year.

If they happen, hey! That’s great.

But my real resolution this year will be to slow down and be more in the moment.

As a blogger and content creator, I struggle with this.

If you’re a blogger too, then I’m sure you can relate.

I want to capture everything I do.

I want to take photos of ALL THE THINGS.

Wait, can you do that again so I can boomerang it?

The struggle to constantly have content to post is real.

Then there’s the constant multitasking.

I can’t even watch tv anymore without checking my phone every 2 minutes.

Yes, every two minutes.

That’s a problem.Β I admit it.

Now that Riley’s in our lives, I’ll be working on finding a better balance.

Because yes, I want to document all these amazing moments with her.

I want to have photos and videos to look back on when I want to relive the absolute best moments of my life.

But at the same time, I want to be present for them.

I want to laugh with her and cuddle with her and enjoy those lazy mornings in bed with both her and Joe and I don’t want to miss any of them because I’m reaching for my camera or my phone.

So that’s what I’ll be focusing on this year.

Slowing down and being present.

This past year has been so absolutely chaotic and hectic and I’ve been moving five thousand miles per minute.

Working, blogging, getting ready for the baby.

But now it’s time to enjoy her.

And if I can still find some time to work on my side hustle, then that’s great.

It’s the thing that allows me to make some extra income so that I’m able to stay home with her and make these memories.

But I don’t have to work so damn hard ALL THE TIME.

I’m learning that.

If I’m smarter about how I spend my time, I can be more efficient when it comes to my work.

And that’ll give me more time with my baby girl.

So here’s to a year that’s spent more in the moment and less on my phone.

Here’s to a year of making memories that I’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Here’s to playing and laughing and not doing five million things at once.

To enjoying theΒ good life, exactly how I want to.

What a great post, good for you in realizing that you want to spend less time on your phone, I want to do that too! More reading actual books and enjoying time spent with loved ones.

Being present in the moment is so important but so hard! I stopped blogging about certain topics because I found that I was way to focused on documenting and curating everything instead of enjoying it fully.

Yeah being a blogger definitely messes with trying to be more present in certain situations. Instagram makes it worse too. Definitely a good resolution!

Love this! My goal for 2018 is to be much more in the moment too. Stop worrying about things and enjoy life more.

I love this! It can definitely be easy to forget to live in the moment sometimes, especially as bloggers, but those are some of the best memories sometimes!

I keep forgetting that we are already in the new year and that I need to make some goals. Posts like this remind me! Thanks!

I love it. Yes, each moment has its own magic so it is good to slow things down and experience it for what it is!

Yes!!! It’s the constant struggle for a content creator. Good luck to you this year as you focus on spending time with your baby.

There’s no guilt like the guilt you feel when you want to pull out your phone and your baby’s staring you right in your face! Here’s to a more phone-less 2018 for us all πŸ™‚

I love reading people’s reviews of the past year along with goals for the new one. It’s always heartwarming and hopeful. Finding balance and space (especially as a new mom) is hard. I love your goal of being more present. Being more in the moment. That’s something that’s tough to do these days. I hope we all find space to do that in our lives. Best of luck!
