June Blog Income Report

June-Blog-Income-Report

A few weeks ago, I decided to share my very first blog income report.

I’d seen so many blog income reports from big-time bloggers and I’d found them absolutely fascinating.

Once you realize that it’s possible to make some money doing something that you love, it’s really easy to become obsessed with learning how to do just that.

The only issue I found was that most people sharing their blog income, more often than not, had tons of page views. We’re talking like 100k+.

And, uh… I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not quite there yet.

Here’s a recap of my blog income from the last two months.

APRIL:

  • Miscellaneous Sponsored Posts: $100
  • Pannel Contribution: $100 (I’m currently participating in a Millennial Feedback Panel for a company that sends me questions every month. I answer the questions. They pay me $100. Not a bad gig.)
  • Google Adsense: $2.82

TOTAL: $202.82 (11,936 page views)

MAY:

TOTAL: $434.18 (16,456 page views)

Now, I mentioned back when I wrote that post that June was going to be awesome because I already had over $600 worth of blogging assignments lined up.

But you guys, it’s kind of really awesome to report that not only did I make those $600, but I made a lot more than that.

Here’s what June looked like:

JUNE:

  • Clever Girls Collective: $200
  • Her Campus Sponsored Posts: $350
  • Social Fabric: $530
  • Panel Contribution: $100
  • Google Adsense: $8.77

TOTAL: $1,188.77 (21,747 page views)

I feel like, super blessed to be able to report those kind of numbers.

I’ve been putting so much work into my blog the last few months, so it’s nice to see that something seems to be working here!

I definitely attribute the increase in page views to two things:

  1. I’ve been writing more consistently. Where in the past I’ve only posted about once or twice a week, lately, I’m averaging about 3-4 times and sometimes even 5 times a week.
  2. I’ve been focusing a lot of time on my social media game. Pinterest has been key in getting more traffic, and I’ve also been looking for ways to better-brand my Instagram.

So this month, I’m looking forward to growing even more. But specifically, I’m going to be focusing on finding new income opportunities because here’s the thing guys…

Sponsored posts seem to be working for me. However, if I totally rely on sponsored posts as my only income stream, I’m gunna get hit really hard at some point or another.

The availability of sponsored posts vary depending on the brands that have campaigns open and available, and I don’t just apply to every sponsored post opportunity out there.

I only take on a sponsored post opportunity when it’s something I feel I can write about that will add value to the site and that my readers will want to read about.

I know my site, and I know my audience.

I’m not gunna write a post about tampons just because I can make a nice $200. That’s not what this is about.

So if next month, all the sponsored post opportunities don’t happen to fit my audience, I know my blog income report for that month will quite possibly be a lot lower.

So I’m going to be focusing a little bit more on affiliate marketing. Working with really cool companies I’ve found on Share A Sale.

I’m also going to start doing some more research on taking some of my content and turning it into an e-book.

I also want to start looking for a new blog theme, now that I have some money to do that.

And lastly, I’m going to be working on my Media Kit so I can start reaching out to companies on my own.

So tell me!!! Anything else you guys have been doing to help monetize your blog?? Let’s help each other out in the comments!!

Check out more of my posts on blogging, and keep checking back here for more monthly income reports!

I would love to know how you’re going about obtaining sponsored posts, more specifically. Of course, only the ones that identify with your brand, but how are you even getting those? Your income posts are very encouraging that it’s doable!

I have signed up with a couple of sponsor places like Tapinfluence and Massive Sway. No work yet. I’ve also signed up for Skimlinks and nothing. But I have only started blogging constantly for the last month. But I have signed on to write for two other blogs in my niche which is awesome!

Thank you for sharing! It really gives me hope. I haven’t had much luck getting sponsored posts. I’ve tried IZEA and MomsAffiliate and I can’t seem to pick up any bids. I’m a new blogger but I feel like I have fairly good traffic…any tips?

Thats pretty impressive, girl, congrats and wow, that’s awesome! Something to look forward to and inspiring.
I had only 1,800 views last month and this month it looks like it might creep up to 3,000! For me it isn’t about numbers but it’s really exciting to see that many views for your own passion, you know?

    Thanks for sharing girl!!

    Hey Kayla

Thanks so much for sharing your income report! I am so obsessed with bloggers’ income reports but as you said, it’s a shame that only the really big bloggers seem to do them! I love that you’re sharing your journey and you’ve inspired me to share mine once I start making some money from my blog.

Great post! I agree with you on the sponsored posts. I can make a lot more on my blog than I do but I refuse to take on just any opportunity. Nor will I take one with tons of requirements and dont’s if the compensation doesn’t warrant the restrictions.

I’m totally going to create a media kit. Thanks for putting that in my head and keep up the great work!

You killed it last month-awesome numbers! I love that you are showing others how it’s possible to make money even without huge page views.

A couple things that I’m doing is using Pad Squad for mobile ads since that’s 70% of my visitors. Blog Chicka Blog has a great tutorial for targeting ads on Adsense. I saw a big increase when I did that.

I’d love for you to join my Pinterest group board as a contributor, let me know if you are interested. I’ve been helping bloggers with their Pinterest accounts and I have a couple tips I can give you.

Holy crap, congrats girl!! You are killing it! You are clearly doing something right here. I had almost 50,000 page views in June and made $81 off Adsense but realized that I really need to broaden my range of blog income because I’m not taking full advantage of the amount of traffic I’m receiving. These are some awesome tips you have here and I can’t wait to implement them for my blog as well!

Great job on an awesome June, I’m so proud of you!!

Have you applied to BlogHer? They have killer social media campaigns that pay really well and my page views are like 1/4 of yours but I’ve spent a lot of time growing my social media following. Another income stream for you!

Thanks for all this info! I totally agree that most of the sites talking about income have such a high following, so it’s nice to see what bloggers with fewer followers have to say!

One question, i did see you put that you had $350 from sponsored Her Campus posts. I’m part of the Her Campus Blogger Network as well, but I don’t see very many sponsor opportunities coming in through the emails. I feel like I am missing out on how to find these opportunities through Her Campus, any tips!?

    Thanks again!

I would love to be making $1000/month on my blogs. I was just thinking that I need to write more often and on more consistent topics. Monetizing a personal blog can be complicated and love/hate. Are you going to be working harder on getting your Adsense or other passive incomes up? Or do sponsored posts hurt you too much for that?

I found this post really helpful. I’m just starting my hustle with monetizing a blog. I actually just made my professional-looking .com blog this week. So, this post showing how you’re monetizing your blog really gave me a good idea of what to look into doing once I get my readership up. Thanks so much for sharing!

I’m seriously SO happy to have found this. I’ve been blogging for about a week now and have been doing a ton of heavy reading on monetizing a blog, and at this point it just seemed really unrealistic for me. But reading this has changed my mind. Thank you so much for the tips and encouragement!

Wow what an awesome boost for you within three months! Really great to hear how you’re doing it. I’m a newbie blogger (we launched two weeks ago) although I have been hobby blogging for about 4 years, but never monetised that site. With regards to your sponsored posts, do you approach companies or do you wait for companies to approach you? Thanks!
