25 Things About Being 25 + My Birthday Giveaway

25-Things-About-Being-25

You guys!!!!!

I’m a quarter of a century today! The big 2-5!

Not quite thirty yet, but way more mature than me at 20.

WAY MORE.

Anyway, I absolutely love my birthday because every year, it’s a chance for me to reflect on how grateful I am for everything awesome in my life.

I mean, good stuff is going on guys!

Wedding 88 days from now…a new house almost ready for us to move into…family…friends…my blog is bringing in some income!

I have zero complaints.

I am truly blessed.

So I decided to put together a list of 25 things about being 25, because I’ve learned a lot in my life so far, and I’m extremely happy to have reached this milestone.

And twenty years from now, I want to remember what my life was like at 25.

And maybe some of you can relate to these.

So here’s what my life looks like right now at 25, and I couldn’t be happier.

  1. My 15 year old brother has more friends than I do.
  2. Brunch is a much better idea than grabbing dinner.
  3. My “little” cousins are now starting college.
  4. Just the possibility of going to bed before 9 makes me cry tears of joy.
  5. My bank account is depressing most days. Seeing how much money I spend on food makes me feel like I really should weigh 400lbs.
  6. Wrinkles. Damn, wrinkles.
  7. I’m finally starting to feel like a grown up at work.
  8. I no longer have the energy to force relationships.
  9. I’m totally over trying to please everyone. You like me? Good! You don’t like me? Ehh..too bad!
  10. Going to a restaurant by myself is not only something that I can do now, it’s actually kinda nice.
  11. I’m starting to buy quality fashion pieces, even if it means saving up some money and shopping less frequently.
  12. I don’t fight with my mom EVERY time we talk.
  13. I’ll be a homeowner in 2 months, and I’ll finally be INVESTING in something that’s really mine.
  14. HGTV is always on the tv.
  15. I’m actually excited about learning how to cook.
  16. Gray hairs. Plural. No longer just one random one. Nope, they have friends now.
  17. I’m owning my side-hustle and finally having the courage to tell people, yes, I’m a blogger.
  18. I’m realizing the kind of lifestyle I want, and looking for a job that will allow me to have that.
  19. I’m making room in my home for the things that make me happiest.
  20. I have zero problem with voicing my opinions.
  21. Every other week, I’m sticking to a no-carb diet.
  22. I feel extremely accomplished, and I’m very proud of all that I’ve gone through this far.
  23. Having no debt feels absolutely amazing.
  24. Yoga is life.
  25. I’ve totally come to terms with the fact that everything is temporary. The good, and the bad. So the good stuff, I’m embracing fully, and the bad stuff, I don’t dwell on it so much. It’ll be over in no time.

Yep, that’s my life in a nutshell! And I’m loving every second of it!

And to continue the celebrations, I decided to host a little giveaway for you guys! Because you’re my friends too, and I’m so happy to have you all in my life! My life has changed drastically because of this community, and because of your support, so a HUGE THANK YOU for that!

Happy birthday!!!! how exciting, I turn 25 next year.

I definitely agree with so many of the items on this list. Number 25 is the most important. Everything is temporary, the good, the bad, and the ugly, we just have to remember how much it was an influence to us at the time.

I’ll be 25 in a month and a half! I totally vote brunch over dinner, and I don’t understand why food is so expensive. My bank account is so depressing. I just started my blog a couple of months ago so I haven’t really ‘gone public’ but I hope someday I’ll be brave enough to!

I’ll be 25 on my next birthday. Thankfully the gray hairs haven’t begun to set in yet. 🙂 I can’t imagine being close to being able to buy a house–though I feel like I’m already quite the cooking expert. haha! We all have our different things.

I remember 25. My first tattoo. I was pregnant for the first time. Became a supervisor at my job. Lots of things happened that year. Happy 25th! I love the list you have. So goal oriented. Wish I would have been that way at 25!

Great giveaway and happy birthday! I freaked out about turning 25 (and had a – slightly smaller – freak out about turning 30 a month ago!) but it’s a great age and it sounds like your attitude about it will take you far!

  6. Amber says:

    Happy Birthday!! 🙂
I love making lists for birthdays, so I loved reading yours! I just turned 24, so soon I’ll be 25 and I’m only half scared of it! 😉 I hope I’ll be able to accomplish some of what you have by then (prime example: actually enjoying the learning experience of cooking haha)

I am about to be 26 – enjoy your 25th year, gal! It goes fast 🙂

#13 is sooooo fun. We just got our first house and it’s so rewarding. In fact, we just started a blog as a married couple and we’re chronicling our renovations and little ditties. So check it out, it might be helpful for you! http://www.theaccidentalhouseblog.com
Blessings on the the 2-5, girl!

I remember how much I dreaded turning 25 only because I was half way to 30. Now I will be 30 in May and now I am like gosh…I’ll take 25 again! It’s great that you have a positive outlook at being 25. I absolutely love being in bed by 9 and am grateful when I am. My little cousins as well have started college and it’s so odd. Once you get older you learn that trying to please everyone is not important anymore, pleasing yourself is. Also, the whole not arguing with your mom thing…feel you on that one. Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday and congratulations :). Reflecting on everything you are grateful for is such a good practice. I am going to start doing that every year! I don’t let a day go by that I’m not grateful for my life and the people in it, but making a list like that is such a great idea. Things change so quickly and we need to take the time to reflect and appreciate our blessings.

  11. Selma says:

Happy Birthday!!!! Being 25 was my favorite thing!! Enjoy it to the fullest!!! 🙂 And yes, HGTV and Yoga are awesome…just those damn wrinkles need to appear when we all turn 50.

  12. Stacey @StaceyHomemaker says:

Oh how I relate to all of these points. I’m turning 27 in two weeks and I’m dreading it, I like 25 so much better. Food is SO expensive, owning a house is tough, and I have grey hairs too. I think they invited all their friends and family to come join them because I’ve found lots more recently! Boo. My fiancé says the blog gives me grey hair but I say it’s hit fault! Haha. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and moving into your new home! It’s an exciting time!

  13. Sharill Y says:

Happy Birthday. hahaha I enjoyed so much reading your list. I can see a bit of myself there. I will be 26 this year and I wanna cry! Where did time go? I was 18 yesterday? I figured I wasn’t a teenager anymore when I stopped fighting with my mom (just like you said) hahahaha! Now I miss her and wish I could have her even half of the time I fought with her. <3 Thanks for the cookies 😉

  14. Erica Musyt says:

Happy Birthday! You’re so lucky to be realizing some of this at 25. I’ll be 32 at the end of the month and am only beginning to realize a few of these. Love your blog #authenticbloggers

  15. Abby Barge says:

Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels like they mostly have their life together, except for things like bank accounts and trying to stick to some kind of clean eating every other week. 🙂 You’re an inspiration!

  16. Sandy says:

Happy Birthday!:) What a fun little celebration, I love the idea of doing a giveaway like this! Hope you’ve had a fabulous time celebrating, enjoy your lovely 20’s!

  17. Emily Smith says:

I don’t remember much about being 25. I had a 3 year old, a 2 year old and an infant. All boys, kept me VERY busy.

  18. Jenna says:

I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I love target, although the target fairy always draws me into buying things I didn’t originally go in there for!
